Some of the symptoms of stress are:
- Headaches
- Anxiety
- Upset stomach
- Insomnia
- Feeling unable to cope
- Anger
- Lack of concentration
What you can do to help reduce work stress
- Take some action by getting some professional help. Talk to your doctor about how you feel.
- Make sure you eat well to feed your nerves and cut down on the smoking and alcohol intake.
- Take some time out for yourself, go for a walk or try something new like reading, yoga or meditation.
- Think about how you could change the situation at work even if you can make some small changes.
- Don’t risk your health and don’t let things get out of hand by ignoring it. Try and take some action.
We spend a lot of our time and a large part of our life at work so lets enjoy it.

You make an excellent point. I make my living teaching workers to better manage their time and workload. High stress levels are a big reason companies hire me but time management issues are only part of the equation. Today’s workplace is inherently stressful with heavy workloads, long hours and micromanaging cultures. Employers aren’t likely to lighten up so much of the solution lies mainly with the worker.
