Try some of these ways to de-stress:

Exercise
Yoga is a good activity that can quiet your mind. Yoga uses progressive muscle relaxation as a relaxation method.

Eating comfort foods
Chocolate contains flavanols which may increase blood flow to the brain but choose dark chocolate for its extra antioxidant properties.

Creative activity
If you draw, paint, cook, knit, weave, sculpt, potter, or some other activity then go and do it.
Play

Reading as a diversion
Books can take you to another place, a place where you can forget your worries for awhile. Don’t have the time for books then pick up an interesting magazine and read a few articles.

Writing
Get out a pen and paper and start writing out your thoughts. Don’t try and dwell too much on what you are writing and think about solutions.

Laughing
Laughing can reduce stress instantly.  Watch a comedy on TV or video, watch a funny video clip on YouTube or think of the funniest thing that has happened to you in the past and relive it.

How to reduce stress in your life

Reduce the stress

Reduce the stress

Some stress is necessary in our lives but most often we suffer from too much stress. Our life moves in the fast lane and we get dragged along. I know by the end of the week Im pretty frazzled.  What I need was to reduce stress in my life!

I have found a few things that help me combat this. I try and have some time each day where I sit or lie down and just wind down although during the week that is usually when I settle down to go to bed as my time is more limited. I also like to relax and meditate when I can even if its for 1/2 hour and I seem lately to be able to manage every other day for that. Eating properly is also very important to reduce stress and in keeping your nerves fed and I also take a multi B vitamin.

I also found recently an online store that sells audio files called binaural beats that help you to sleep, relax, lose weight etc. The store has been around for around 7 years so they are an established business although I had never heard of them before. I found this site as I was looking for ways to learn to relax and new easier ways to help me meditate. I like audio files because I can download them to my mp3 player and listen to them when I want. The website is called The Unexplainable Store and you can even download a free sample to try.

I wasnt sure what they were all about at first because I had never heard of binaural beats but it works when two different frequencies of audio waves are played at the same time with a frequency in each ear through stereo headphones.

My favorites recordings are the stress release and weight loss recordings. The sounds I love listening to are the sounds of the forest and waterfalls to help put me into a deep relaxed state and it really worked for me even from the first time. Its hard to explain but its like I felt a vibrational feeling come over me. See Im not explaining myself very well so maybe that is where the store got its name. For more information why not go and see for yourself at The Unexplainable Store and tell me what you think.

I have found from my own experience that relaxation audio music and guided meditation tapes are the methods that give me the best results. They help my muscles relax and it takes me away from your everyday worries for at least a little while and unlike taking pharmaceutical drugs to get you to the same state they have no side affects, addiction or other risks.

Try and take some time out for yourself this week and remember you need to work at keeping your stress levels down on a regular basis so you don’t get to the situation where you are really stressed out.
